Thursday August 2 saw a combined celebration of achievements in a Graduation at the Aviation Institute at Rennie Drive. 63 students graduated with the Certificate in Airline Customer Service from the School of Service – PTE (Private Training Establishment) The Certificate which includes 2 National Certificates Tourism & Aviation (Core Skills) is delivered over 17 weeks and provides students with the necessary knowledge and skills to develop their customer service in preparation for front line roles. Many of the graduating students have already successfully gained employment with employers such as Air New Zealand, Jetstar, Sitel (Virgin Australia Contact Centre) and Sky City to name but a few. The evening also saw the inaugural recipients of the National Certificate in Aviation (Ramp Operations) graduate. The National Certificate in Aviation – Ramp Operations Qualification is a mechanism to formally recognise the work that the ramp staff currently complete and align it to NZQA standards. The team have strived for up to two years to complete all assessments whilst being employed in normal operational duties. This has required a significant amount of dedication and commitment not only by the recipients but also the training coordinators and On Job Trainers. The recipients were justifiably very proud of their achievements and thoroughly enjoyed being given the opportunity to graduate in front of their friends and family. The team are also very proud of what they have achieved and they have now set the benchmark for the rest of the team to strive for.
